Solten Financial Services Overview
Solten Financial Services (Private) Limited is a wholly Zimbabwean-owned microfinance company, duly incorporated under the Companies Act (Chapter 24:03) and licensed and regulated by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe as a credit-only Microfinance Institution. With over 15 years of demonstrable operational experience in the microfinance sector, the institution delivers structured credit solutions designed to enhance financial inclusion, enterprise development, and sustainable livelihoods among small and medium-scale entrepreneurs and economically active, underserved segments of the population.
The institution was co-founded by Tendai Chin’anga and Saul Chin’anga and commenced operations in August 2009, guided by a strategic mandate to deepen access to formal credit markets and address systemic financing gaps arising from financial exclusion. Initial operations were capitalised through US$12,000 in founders’ equity, supporting a single-branch operation based in Mutare, Zimbabwe.
Through consistent balance sheet growth, disciplined credit risk management, and progressive market penetration strategies, Solten Financial Services has expanded its footprint to a national client base exceeding 40,000 active customers. The institution currently operates a 23-branch network with a deliberate concentration in rural and peri-urban growth corridors, spanning 7 of Zimbabwe’s 10 provinces and collectively serving approximately 62% of the national population. This extensive distribution network underscores Solten’s long-term commitment to inclusive finance, productive sector support, and sustainable microfinance intermediation.
